The Composer
The Visual Artist
Chad Morris is a Los Angeles based music composer and solo artist. His primary instrument is guitar, but also plays piano, bass, alto and soprano saxophone. He is also an accomplished midi programmer. The foundation of Morris' solo material rests squarely on the exploration of technical execution and the marriage of complexity with simplicity.
Morris recieved a BA in music performance from CSUDH, and a certification in audio engineering from Musician's Institute. His favorite artistsinclude Maurice Ravel, Frederic Chopin, George Benson, Pat Martino, Dr. Dre, Aphex Twin, Paul Gilbert, Herbie Hancock, and Steve Vai, just to name a select few. What makes Chad special is his command over multiple genres, from Classical, Hip-Hop and Jazz to niche genres such as IDM and Exploratory.
Chad Morris is also an accomplished visual artist. His album cover designs are provocative, abstract and filled with symbology from his fervent interest in Archaeoastronomy, ancient and old world marvels, and metaphysics. He draws from these themes in the creation of his musical works as well.
Completely self taught, Morris primarily works in Photoshop, but has also realized in oil and canvas, and pencil drawings. His main themes stem from his fascination with megalithic structures and unexplainable monuments of the ancient world such as the complexes in Bolivia, Bosnia, Carnac, Giza, Ethiopia and Malta. In the near future, he may dedicate a collection of artwork to these special world monuments. The enigmatic mysteries of the cosmos and the ancient world will always guide not only his visual art, but his musical compositions as well.
Equipment
Chad uses 2 guitars for his solo material: the Ibanez GB-10 fully hollowbody electric jazz guitar designed by George Benson, and the Cordoba Orchestra CE nylon stringed acoustic electric. He uses .14 or .15 gauge flat wound strings (6th string) on the Benson and a variety of hard tension strings on the acoustic, but mainly D'addario and Savarez.
Chad's music production rig is small and simple. He works in ProTools, with a few Native Instruments and ProjectSAM VST's including, Abbey Road Modern Drummer, Symphobia 2 Orchestral Library, The Grandeur grand piano, Stormdrum, True Strike 1 and 2, controlled from a m-Audio 88 key midi controller. He uses a standard Waves plugin bundle with a few quality mastering plugins.
Chad's primary goals are to have his solo artist material recognized in global markets, to compose regularly for Cinema and TV, and to produce in popular music genres. With his immense talent, it is only a matter of time before he receives worldwide recognition for his musical ability.
